from turning off my phone … seriously – i know that my friends and family love me and i’m fortunate to have them – but if one more person calls just to ask me if i’ve had the baby yet, i swear i’m going to disown them – yesterday i threatened one of my best friends with bodily harm if she asks “are you having the baby yet” one more time – there is a long list of people that will be contacted when i go to labor – and if i talk to you on a regular basis (or even a semi-regular basis), you will be contacted – so stop freaking calling me people!!!

i had to sleep on the chaise last night because i can no longer sleep comfortably in my bed – i was a little sad when Kelley kissed me goodnight and then headed off to our bedroom – i thought he might be at least a little bit sad to be sleeping alone – imagine my surprise when i walked into the bedroom this morning to find him looking all comfy-cozy curled up and taking up the ENTIRE bed – he didn’t even notice i was gone – the nerve!  and when i went to kiss him goodbye, he was sprawled out across half the bed – hater!!!  anyway, last night i put a blanket on top of the chaise but not before i laid out those protective pads – you know the ones that protect your mattress in case your water breaks in the middle of the night – Kelley totally made fun of me – he said that since i was putting so much into the preparation, it wasn’t going to happen – gee, thanks honey – the “about to get punched in the face by dianthe” line forms to the left!

so everyone says that Braxton Hicks are your body’s way of “practicing” for real labor – well guess what, i’m over this practicing nonsense – let’s get on to the real thing – there was a 30 minute time period last night when i thought we were making some progress – i could feel my belly tightening periodically and then i started getting these horrific cramps – they hurt so bad that i could hardly walk – so i decided to time them (thank you contractionmaster.com) – but i never got a consistent pattern and i decided to try and get some sleep instead – and miraculously i woke up this morning with no more contractions – boo!!  but since i’ve gone almost the entire pregnancy with no BH contractions, i’m taking last night as a sign that the real ones are on the way – in the meantime, i’m headed off for a mani and pedi because i had 2 friends that went into labor after a pedicure – Spike’s gotta be coming soon – right???

  1. Wow..I expected something completely different from the nursery. I hope it’s a girl cause that is a bright purple for a little boy. Poor guy…anyway..good luck.

  2. Poor D. He is going to be here before you know it! I can’t wait to get the call/text, but I won’t be bugging you about it. :)

  3. Dianthe,
I love the nursery colors. I love those colors together a great combo of soothing but fun colors!!
    Good Luck girl!!

  4. Dianthe,
If you are anything like me (which up to this point, you have been!!) Then tonight is your night. I had exactly the same circumstances to the point where I wasn’t sure what those pains were that I was feeling. I went to work the next day, cooked dinner that night and then started having contractions about 11pm that night. I was up all night in my lazyboy recliner timing them (with no pattern). When my husband woke up the next morning I told him not to go to work b/c I was in labor. My water never broke but I called my OB to cancel my 3pm appt that day and they told me they’d see me at the hospital! Good luck!!!! Can’t wait to hear your hysterical commentary on how this goes;)

  5. Preparedness is a good thing. I had a trashbag and thick beach towel on my car seat for 2 weeks before I went into labor. Came in handy as my water broke without ever having a contraction. Good luck to you, the waiting is the hardest part, but it will be over soon!

  6. Hi, IF your water breaks, it may not come pouring out like it does in the movies. It could just come as a trickle. Also, if the cramps were that bad, I have a feeling that was a real contraction. Its just too early to be real labor yet.

  7. I’m getting so EXCITED for you! You’re well on your way to having this baby. Bet it’ll be here this wk if not by tomorrow. Love the nursery! Wish I had an eye for interior decorating. Envy people w/ that kind of talent. Take Care we’re all Pulling for you!!!! Come ON SPIKE!!!

  8. Hi, I had the same experience as Christine so fingers crossed. In the meantime, tell everyone that you mixed up your dates and Spike isn’t due for another 2 weeks. That should shut them up! Good luck, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  9. MY WATER NEVER BROKE AND I NEVER FELT A BH CONTRACTIONS I SIMPLY WENT FOR A CHECK UP AND THE DR SAID WELL KATY ITS TIME HAHA! SO JUST KNOW YOU DONT ALWAYS KNOW WHEN ITS HAPPENING BUT IT MAY BE HAPPENING! LUV YA GIRL GOOD LUCK TONIGHT!KATY

  10. The cramps are good – that is less work you have to do when real labor hits. I am still betting Spike comes before Saturday!

  11. WOW..you are trippin! Just remember in the future to be careful of what you ask for. You asked the baby stay in as long as your due date..you asked Kelley to talk to the baby and now you got it…still complaining. You are insane! WOW

  12. You are awesome! I think you are so funny! I know that being pregnant is hard, but I can tell you and Kelley will be great parents to a beautiful, healthy baby. Keep us updated! Thanks so much for sharing part of your life with us :)

  13. Oh Girl! I love reading your blog everyday! You are HISTERICAL!! I know what its like to be pregnant and just want that baby out of you! Good luck with it all im sure that you will make a wonderful mom! I just gave birth to a wonderful little boy 2 weeks ago and he was 3 weeks late…not probably what you want to hear but it happens! But it is ALL worth it in the end when you get to hold your baby and see it for the first time! I will pray for youto have a safe and easy labor! GOOD LUCK!

  14. When I read your blog the other day about you calling in to work because of your hip, I told my husband that it’ll be by the end of the week that you have the baby. And don’t listen to the haters about the nursery. It’s gorgeous!!! Seriously, the baby won’t care. If you love it, that’s all that matters. It’s perfect, though! All my thoughts and prayers are with you this week as you prepare to meet your beautiful miracle. Calm your nerves, hon… it won’t be long, now! (Enjoy the last moments you have right now as a childless person!) Much love!!!

  15. I have a chaise…they’re lovely…so..have you had that baby yet? Go ahead and disown me because we aren’t related. :)

  16. My friend had this phone chain service call everyone with a message about the birth of her son. They plugged in all their numbers and when the baby came, the dad recorded a 30 second message with the details and pressed go. It was pretty cool. I’m not sure what service they used but http://www.call-em-all.com is the same thing. It’ll save Kelley from calling 5 million people & let him spend more time with you and Spike. Plus, it won’t rack up your minutes.

    Congrats!
