ohhh – the joys of poo!!
July 8, 2008 at 4:05 pm | In Uncategorized | 6 Commentsi’m typing this with one hand so this is going to be short – i’m also trying to get Sydney down so i can finish today’s Remix blog (plus she’s fussy!!)
so if you’re a mom, you know that the consistency of poo changes once your baby starts solids – it becomes very runny and messier than is has been – now, normally this wouldn’t be an issue except that Sydney is a little on the “skinny minnie” side and seems to be getting skinnier (even though she’s gaining weight – she’s growing up, not out!) – anyway, i’m having a hard time getting her diaper to fit tightly around her thighs – most of the time it’s okay because she’s still pretty stationary, but once she starts moving around – we’ve got problems – so … a few minutes ago, we were playing on the bed – i was leaning back against the pillows and she was sitting on my tummy facing me – i grabbed her to raise her up in the air (because it makes her laugh) and suddenly i saw poo dripping from her diaper … all over my nursing tank – so i grab a burp rag, put it under her butt and head for the nursery – i lay her down on the changing table and assess the situation – in the 30 seconds it took me to walk from my room to hers, we have somehow managed to get poo on my leg, her leg, my tank, her house shoes, the burp rag, the outside of the diaper, the changing pad cover and my hand! i look at Sydney and she is grinning ear to ear – yeah, i’m glad she thinks this is so hilarious!! fortunately, it only took 2 wipes (thank god for cloth wipes!) and about 5 minutes to get everything cleaned up – but since i didn’t manage to get a shower yesterday, i’m DEFINITELY going to need one today!!

I love baby poo stories!! My son didn’t poo for the first 5 days after we got home, I was a little worried and called the dr. They told me to stimulate his sphincter (sp?) with a thermometer, like I was taking his temp but to do so while holding him over the toilet or shower. I opted for shower, thank god too b/c that stuff went EVERYWHERE!! Ewww!! He was so happy after that, LOL! And then a few years later he was in the bathtub and managed to poo in there. He tried to pick it up b/c he was going to put it in the potty! DOUBLE EWWW!!!

HA!! Don’t you just love it when that happens? And there’s nothing you can really do but laugh with them, because poo is funny

Girl, I have an 8 year old and a 10 month old. I’ve seen my share of poo scary times. My first was with my daughter (the 8 yr old). I was holding her when she was tiny and new and I felt some breast milk leaking down past the boob and onto my tummy. I reached my hand slowly, so as not to wake her up, down into my bra to see just how overflowed my breast pad was and found it DRY! And for some unknown reason, after I felt of the wetness just past the pad, I smelled my hand. Oh Lord, it wasn’t breastmilk! I then realized that she had a messy runny poo out of her diaper, through her outfit, through my shirt and it was running down my front. She was only like 6 weeks old and I was kinda freaked out.
With my son (the 10 month old), he had 4th of July poo! It exploded like a bomb everytime I changed his freakin diaper! I tell you, I felt like I was in a war zone. It would shoot out and I’d better be ready. It was bad news. Thank God he finally quit doing that. But there were times that I literally had to reach up and catch mid-air a flying turd to as not to mess the rug.
One question…. why don’t these kids ever pull this crap (no pun intended) with the Daddies?!?!?
Despite it all, they’re so cute and I would do it all over again. How awful could it be anyway…. it’s coming out of such cute little tushies, right?
Enjoy your baby. They grow so fast.
Oh, and love the pictures. Thanks.
