am i the only one …

who doesn’t feel like i’ve been pregnant forever??  everyone keeps commenting on how it seems like this is the longest pregnancy known to man – add to that the fact that i apparently look like i’m going to deliver any minute – and while i do think i am absolutely enormous, i’m not at that “when is this kid coming out” stage yet – yesterday i told my OB that Spike and i are having daily conversations about him waiting until week 40 to make his appearance – she said we’ll see how i feel in 6 weeks – of course in 6 weeks i’ll be 37 weeks along and “officially” full term – and even though i have a feeling Spike is going to show up somewhere around January 25th, i’m still planning (and praying) on 40 weeks

so the Ob said we’re still on track and she guesstimates the baby to be about 3.5 pounds and is going to a big baby – holy crap – if Spike sticks to that whole “the baby gains 1/2 a pound a week” thing, i’m looking at an 8 pound baby coming out of my va-jay-jay – how the hell is that going to happen?  returning to my happy place … the place where i only gained 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks – YAY!!  still under 200 pounds and still don’t weigh as much as my husband!  YIPPEE!!

i hate the smell of Red Bull – just thought i’d throw that out there

my husband the comedian – so Kelley has been in Charlotte all week and comes back in town today – last night, he went to a bar with his cousin to watch the Cowboy game – i talked to him for a few before he left for the game and he didn’t mention anything about Tivoing the game – if i had been a good wife, i would have just gone ahead and done it, but i’m pregnant and didn’t feel like getting out of bed – so when he called me back at 7:11pm, i knew that’s what he wanted – so he goes through the whole “can you Tivo the game, and the recap show, and here’s what channel it’s on” blah-blah-blah – so as we’re getting off the phone, he says “can you repeat that so i know you have all the information right” – i knew he was joking but i couldn’t even think of anything to say back because it was so ridiculous – and he knew it was ridiculous too – which is why he immediately starting laughing when i replied with silence – “oh yeah, i’ll repeat some stuff for you – words that i bet YOU won’t repeat!!” – Kelley doesn’t have near the potty mouth that i do – i don’t know what’s gotten into him, but all of a sudden he thinks he’s freaking Jerry Seinfeld – i hope he’s filled with laughter when he gets the bill from the carpet cleaner – they’ll be at the house today at 11am!

how about a foot in your rib

November 29, 2007 at 4:30 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 7 Comments

OW!!!  yesterday i went to the chiropractor who told me that Spike is in position and that his feet were under by ribs – well today, one of his feet is wedged in my rib and it hurts to breathe – isn’t it a little early for me to be bribing my baby – i think it is, but i’m willing to give Spike whatever he wants – as long as he will remove his tiny toes from beneath my rib – the hottest toy for Christmas?  yours – car when you turn 16 – sure, whatever – just move your foot!!

how is it possible that i’ve gotten so much bigger but it’s all solid – clearly i haven’t been working out – so it can’t be muscle – but i am much larger than i was pre-PG and i have no flab – it’s almost like i’m solid fat – how is that possible?  even my calves are a little bigger – that’s just weird – on the upside, my boots fit better – i’ve always had small calves, so now i don’t have to pull up my boots every 5 minutes – in the meantime, my hips are getting wider and wider every day – i’ve never had hips before and all of a sudden i’m wide tracking – while i’m looking for that back up camera system for Tahiti, i should look for one of those BEEP*BEEP*BEEP things for my wide behind – maybe i can get a 2 for 1 deal!!

i got my hair cut again yesterday and it is really starting to look Posh-a-licious – it’s not quite as long as Posh’s because my bangs are taking forever to grow out – i don;t know why, because the rest of it is growing like crazy!  it’s ridiculous – and how weird is it that the rest of my body hair is growing like a jungle but the hair on my legs has become almost non-existent – i have to shave under my arms every freaking day now – but i haven’t shaved my legs in over a month – and hardly any growth at all – not that i could bend down to shave them even if i was so inclined!  but still – i will never understand the human body – good thing i didn’t become a doctor!

some of you asked about the threading – i go to a place called Styles of India – they’re local to Dallas but they have several locations throughout the metroplex – stylesofindia.com – what i like is that it’s cheap and much more accurate than waxing- it still hurts (like plucking) but not as badly as waxing – if you can find someone to do it, i highly recommend it!

on the agenda for today –  my 31 week appointment – i have not been on the scale since the last time i was at the doctor and i have NO idea what it’s going to say – i just know that i am enormous  – we’ll see what she has to say about that – i have a feeling that i’m going to catch Kelley sometime in the next month – when i told Big Al that this morning, he kind of chuckled – i know he wanted to fall down with laughter but i think he’s afraid i’ll punch him in the face!  smart man!

“America finally got it right” – not in reference to Helio and Scary Spice, but in reference to Marie – she should have been gone long, long ago – and i was a little sad to see Cheetah Girl again – she was so good – i missed seeing her dance – it was cute to see her and her partner all lovey-dovey though – he must have kissed her half a dozen times – so sweet – they should have been in the finals!  i still can’t decide how i feel about Helio winning – i loved both him and Scary – and while i think Scary was better technically, Helio had more showmanship – it could’ve gone either way – and maybe they’ll do a dance off like Kelly Monaco and J Peterman …

i know that a lot of women get to this stage in their pregnancy and start hoping the baby will show up around week 37 or 38 – not me – i told Kelley that Spike and i are having daily conversations – he has been told that he is not allowed to come early – i need him to spend the entire 40 weeks in his current home – so far, Spike seems pretty comfortable where he is and i need him to stay that way – i feel Spike move all the time now – it is the coolest thing – i can already tell i’m going to be one of those mom’s that just constantly stares at her baby – i can see it now – Kelley will call in the middle of the day and say “what are you doing” – “oh nothing, just staring at the baby” – that’s pretty much what i’m doing now – except now i’m just feeling the baby move instead of staring at him – but we’re 9 weeks out and i’m starting to get REALLY excited!

today is “me” day – i’m having my eyebrows threaded (ouch), i’m getting my hair cut (YAY!!!) and then a trip to the chiropractor – that will actually be the highlight – now all i have to do is stay awake – are you supposed to get progressively more tired in the third trimester – i’m exhausted – i’m starting to go to bed a little earlier but it doesn’t seem to be making a difference – it’s like the extra sleep is causing me to be even more tired – how can this be possible when i’m only getting 5 hours of sleep instead of 4?

ok – i have to share this story because it totally made my day – so i get a call from a woman who wants to talk to the show – unfortunately, it’s late in the show and we’re in the middle of a commercial break so we’re not talking any calls – and just for the record, the show doesn’t take calls off air – so she keeps me on the phone for 2-3 minutes basically begging to talk to someone, anyone, on the show – finally i tell her it’s not going to happen and she hangs up – then she calls me back about 3 minutes later and we have almost the exact same conversation – only this time, she’s more persistent – i tell her (as nicely as possible) that the answer is still no and that she won’t be able to talk to anyone on the show – and that unfortunately, i have other lines to answer and can’t continue the conversation with her – after all, how many different ways can you say “i’m sorry we’re not taking any more calls” – so then she calls on the office phone and talks to the office admin – and she tells her the same thing – she wants to know if she can talk to someone on the show – when she’s told (AGAIN) that she won’t be able to talk to anyone – she says, “well i just called the other line and talked to dianthe – and she’s a mean MF!”  at that point, Lindsay (the office admin) politely says, “ok, well i’ll let her know – thanks” – OMG – i cannot tell you how that made me laugh – i don’t know why, but it just completely cracked me up – and then do you know that she had the nerve to call me back and ask if we were taking calls yet?!?!?  oh man, i needed that laugh today!

DON’T TEASE THE PREGNANT WOMAN!!!!

November 27, 2007 at 5:14 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments

it’s just like the sign at the zoo – “Don’t Tease the Animals” – really what that sign means is “don’t piss off the animals because they are likely to come over the fence and go ape#&%@ on you – same concept with the pregnant woman – i’m not sure why my husband chose last night to make an attempt at being the funniest man in America, but it did not go over well – and really, i just wanted to punch him in the face – i had nachos for dinner and rinsed the plate and left it in the sink thinking i would clean it later – Kelley came home from class and made himself a plate of leftovers – when he was done, he washed the dishes – correction – he washed all the dishes except his – um, excuse me – but is there a reason you didn’t wash my plate?  he did this on purpose trying to be funny – but really, it just pissed me off – then i tell him that i need him to rent a carpet cleaner to clean the carpet in the nursery – i told him that normally i would do it but that everyone says it’s going to be too hard on my back – he made some smart comment (that i chose to ignore) trying to be funny again – yeah, that didn’t really go over well – i hope he thinks it’s hilarious when he gets the bill from the carpet cleaning company – because i’ve now made the executive decision to just hire someone – who cares if it’ll cost 4 times what it would’ve cost to rent the machine – at least the floor will be clean and i will be happy – what’s that saying about if mama’s not happy …

so i’ve decided that Tahiti needs one of those vehicle camera backup cameras – not only for her safety, but for the safety of those driving (or idly standing) around her – there is a greater than 99% chance that i ran over the trashcan yesterday while backing out of the driveway – normally i would take full responsibility, but it’s really the exterminator’s fault – see, what had happened was … i was on my way out to run a few errands and just as i was backing out of the garage, the exterminator showed up – now, that put a crimp in things since we were supposed to reschedule – but he said he only needed access to the outside but wanted to move his truck into the driveway – in my effort to get out of his way, i may have cut the wheel a little too far to the right, thus taking out the trashcan sitting on the curb – good thing the exterminator was there to witness it and remove the trashcan from beneath the car – so now i’m on the hunt for a backup camera system – and then, someone to install it!

and speaking of someone to install – our tv is on the fritz – when they painted, Kelley thought it would be a great idea to disconnect everything instead of just unplugging the tv – please don’t ask me why – my only explanation is that he’s a man –  anyway, now we can’t the the tv to come back on – we can get the main power to come on but the tv is stuck in standby mode and we can’t get it out of standby – i called Hitachi and they referred me to a few repair shops – but one wants a receipt (which i don’t have since it was a gift from Kidd) and one can’t get us in until next week – seriously?  i miss GH in HD – don’t these people realize i’m addicted to tv??  **le sigh**

Dancing With the Stars

Marie – ok, after last night’s performances, you cannot tell me that Marie deserves to be in the finals – she was terrible – it was like week 3 all over again!  and she knew she was bad which is why she spent the entire show pandering to her “thousands and thousands of doll fans” – give me a break Marie – we know that the entire state of Utah and the grannies from QVC are voting for you – you don’t need to rub it in our faces!  her samba was terrible and that doll routine – at some point the doll is supposed to come “alive” and actually master the dance – too bad no one conveyed that to Marie

Scary Spice – for the first time, i was not impressed – at all – the cha-cha was okay but it wasn’t their best dance and i thought the freestyle left a lot to be desired – there was too much hip-hop and not enough good hip-hop – Maks is clearly a technical dancer and had some MAJOR problems letting himself go enough to make the hip hop look good – they shuold have thrown in some more technical aspects – the routine would have been a lot better

Helio – again, not impressed with the jive – it’s like none of them had enough time to practice this week – it was a little too fast and furious and his footwork was extra sloppy –  good thing they made up for it on the freestyle – i liked that they incorporated several dances and i LOVED the song choice – that song is one that my dad forced us to listen to on long family road trips as a child – i hated it then but i have a great appreciation for the Motown era as an adult – i hope to inflict the same misery on my own children!  anyway, i loved the freestyle!!

my vote is for Helio – i know it’s going to be close between him and Scary – and i do like her too – but i think Helio has the edge after last night!!

a prisoner in my own home

November 26, 2007 at 8:22 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 12 Comments

we’re still waiting on flooring – but in the meantime, we’ve been in painting hell – we have a fairly large living room that needed to be painted – and because of the non-stop 3 day paintfest, i was basically banished to the bedroom – granted i got to catch up on a lot of Tivo and i read a few of the 847 magazines that i have sitting on my bedroom floor – i intended to do some cleaning and organizing, but i never write got around to that – i think i’m just overwhelmed – now that the painting is finally complete, Kelley is obviously ready for another project – me? not so much – last night he asked me what i thought we might do in the hallway to “set it off” – are you joking me right now?? i tried to be nice about it but i’m not sure how it came across – i told him i can’t even begin to think about anything else decor related until the floors are installed and the furniture is delivered – it’s just too much – i am so overwhelmed i can’t think straight – we picked up the crib this weekend but haven’t put it together yet – we’ve definitely got to clean the carpet before we start moving a bunch of stuff in there – i’ve got 9 1/2 weeks (hopefully!) before this baby comes and i am starting to freak out! and don’t even get me started on the fact that i can’t put my tree up – UGH!!

speaking of freaking out – Kellie brought me a bag this morning and said “have you bought pads for your bed in case your water breaks in the middle of the night?” WHAT??? i had not even thought about that!! good thing i have previously PG people looking out for me – it would be my luck that i would ruin the mattress – and another thing i haven’t thought about – nursing bras – i have no idea where to start – i don;t know what size i’m supposed to buy – should i start with nursing tanks for now and buy bras after the baby comes? help me out people – clearly i have no idea what i’m doing!

so i did it – i ventured out for Black Friday and it was a success – for the most part!

4:00am – roll out of bed – this wasn’t nearly as hard as you’;d think since i’m normally up at that time anyway

4:35am – leave the house

4:45am – swing by Michael’s to see if anyone is camped out for the Cricut machine – they’re not!

4:46am – drive through the Best Buy parking lot to gawk at the hundreds of people who camped out in the freezing cold weather

4:47am – pull into a parking spot and stand outside Best Buy across the way from the entrance – the thinking here was that once the “camp out” line died down, i could jump in at the end and head inside the store – obviously i wasn’t teh only one with that idea because by 5am, there were about 125 other people standing with me

5:00am – Best Buy employees open the doors and start letting people in

5:15am – with no end in sight to the line, i head around the building to find the end of the line

5:22am – finally enter Best Buy – i headed to the part of the store that (supposedly) had my item – no luck – i spent the next 10 minutes walking up and down every aisle looking for a display with my Sale item – no luck – i asked 3 different salespeople where my item might be – none of them had a clue

5:37am – decided it wasn’t worth battling the crazies who waited in line to buy $2.50 DVDs and bailed

5:42am – headed to Michael’s

5:43am – shocked to find 6 people waiting outside Michael’s, i jumped out of the car and waddled to claim my spot – pretty much every one in line was wanting a Cricut machine – there were 2 people who were lined up to get some 4″ entry way Christmas trees – we all spent the next 17 minutes speculating where in the store the Cricuts were and how many they had – we tried to get the info out of the Michael’s employees as they arrived for work but no one was talking – there was one guy who was friends with one of the women in line and pointed out the Cricut display next to the register – but he wouldn’t say how many there were and we couldn’t tell because it was being blocked by the register – oh the drama …

6:00am – busted into Michael’s and claimed one of the 8 Cricut machines (i was number 5!!) – i milled around for a few minutes to see if there was anything else i needed and i heard several people complain because there were only 8 machines – i don;t know how many they were expecting but i’m pretty sure that 8 is about 2.5-3 times there normal stocking level – oh well – i got mine!!

6:10am – head to Macy’s – got what i needed and i was in and out in about 10 minutes

6:25am – Walmart baby!!!  i picked up a few toys for my nephews an it wasn’t nearly the madhouse that i thought it would be – they were all out of the big ticket item i was looking for, but since they opened at 5am, that was to be expected – but then i lucked up and the shopping guys looked favorably upon me – the one item i was looking for magically appeared on the shelf!  so i tossed it in the basket with the toys and headed for the checkout – i was looking forward to reading the Soap Opera Digest while waiting in line, but there was no line!  shocking, i know!  but it was awesome

6:50am – walk into Target – i was a little intimidated at first because they had a line coming from the electronics department that almost came out of the door – but i was headed for toys, so it was all good!  they were out of a few things too, but again – since it was way after 5am, that was on me – i did manage to find a few things for the boys and headed off to my final destination!

7:00am – Ulta – WOO HOO!!!  one of my favorite places on Earth since i am such a beauty product junkie – i picked up a couple of things for my sister and headed to the checkout line – this was my longest wait of the day – i couldn’t believe how long the line was – fortunately, people were in a good mood and i had been awake long enough to have a pleasant conversation with the people around me – here’s where my feet really started to hurt – i put on my Nike Shox for the first time in this entire pregnancy and i can’t tell you how badly my feet hurt – never again – i stand by my belief that tennis shoes are for working out only – i would’ve been much better off had i worn boots!  anyway, i finally walked out of Ulta at 7:37am

7:42am – swing by Chick-Fil-A for a breakfast biscuit and some tea and then headed home!!

it was close to 8am when i got to the house and Kelley was just waking up –  i gave him the quick rundown over breakfast and then the contractor arrived – while Kelley handled house stuff, i headed back to bed – i slept most of the day and then headed back to my mom’s to see my brother one last time before he went back to Austin – all in all, Black Friday was a pretty big success – i saved big money and i’m halfway through my Christmas shopping – what could be better than that??

it was fun while it lasted

November 21, 2007 at 5:09 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 9 Comments

how bummed am i about Jennie Garth – i knew it was coming but i still hoped that by some random chance, Marie would be voted off – Jennie deserved to come in 3rd – she really was the most improved – i’m gonna be REALLY mad if Marie makes it to the final 2 – Kelley doesn’t think it will happen and says the fans will self correct – but i’m thinking this so called “self-correction” should have already happened – but i take some comfort in the fact that Jennie gets to go back home to her girls – i know being away from them for so long was hard on her and them – but i still wanted her to win!

i love long weekends – especially ones that last 4 days!! hopefully i will be motivated enough to actually get some stuff done instead of lounging around doing nothing – we pick up the crib today and hopefully get that put together – i need to finish the bedding (which i’m going to try and work on today) and then i can start working on the real fun part of the nursery – the decorative stuff – except i do still need to find a dresser – i’ve been looking on Craig’s list – you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a long dresser that can double as a changer instead of those tall 4 or 5 drawer things – ugh

guess who has a new front door – that would be me – pretty psyched about it too – i picked out a pretty knocker (that no one will ever use) and it has a cool peephole – i’m so easy to please! the living room should be completely painted on Friday and hopefully we can get this flooring situation worked out and then we can have our new furniture delivered – i’m getting a little tired of our 2 chair situation – i’m forced to spend all of my time in bed – and though i know it’s shocking – even i’m getting tired of it!

has anyone ever used one of those rented carpet cleaners? the carpet in the baby’s room needs to be cleaned and since we’re replacing the flooring in just about the rest of the house, there’s really no need to hire a service – i’ve seen those machines you can rent at Walmart – but do they really work? and is it hard? i’m not much into making a lot of effort these days – if you have first hand knowledge or another suggestion, i’d love to hear it

so i’ve been looking on line all week and i have scoped out my shopping plan on Friday – that’s right – i’m getting up at the crack of dawn to fight the cold weather and the crazies and hopefully i can get a jump on my Christmas shopping – my usual M.O is to wait until the last minute – but i have a feeling that i will NOT feel like shopping when i’m 36 weeks along! my first stop? Walmart! but that’s a strictly selfish stop – i’ve been scoping out that Cricut machine and they have it on sale for $119 – if you’re in the market for one, head to Walmart early – but don’t head to my Walmart – cause if you take my machine, i will fight you for it – and like Kidd said, i’m pregnant and bitchy – of course, Kelley says i was bitchy before i was pregnant – and he’s right! so at least he knew what was coming! anyway, i digress – back to the Cricut – what i’m hoping is that no one at my neighborhood G-Hetto Walmart is into scrapbooking and i can get in and get out with my machine – then it’s off to target to pick up some toys for the boys (aka my nephews) – i’m looking for a digital camera for my stepson and maybe something will jump out at me for Kelley – i asked him what he wanted for Christmas and his reply was “nothing” – really? nothing?? ugh – he’s no fun at all!

i’m hoping i find some good stuff but i’ll let you know all about it next week – i hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and we’ll talk next week – be safe!

4 day weekend – WOO HOO!!!!

how bummed was i last night about Jennie going home – even though i saw it coming – i cam going to be REALLY mad if Marie makes it to the final 2 – Kelley says it won’t happen because the fans will self correct – yeah, i don’t know – i’m thinking the “self correction” should have happened a while ago – poor Jennie – she worked so hard – and she really is the most improved – but i know she’s glad to get back to her girls and the wonderful world of mommyhood – so i’m happy for her from that standpoint – but i still hate that she missed out!

i love long weekends – especially ones that last 4 days!! hopefully i will be motivated enough to actually get some stuff done instead of lounging around doing nothing – we pick up the crib today and hopefully get that put together – i need to finish the bedding (which i’m going to try and work on today) and then i can start working on the real fun part of the nursery – the decorative stuff – except i do still need to find a dresser – i’ve been looking on Craig’s list – you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a long dresser that can double as a changer instead of those tall 4 or 5 drawer things – ugh

actually lavender – dark lavender, but still lavender – but i don’t care and neither will Spike … because the nursery is painted!! YIPPEE!!! i should have the bedding finished in the next week or so, the crib will be here tomorrow – Spike will have somewhere to sleep after all – today i’ll spend today trying to find some semblance of order to our bedroom – it’s pretty much filled with stuff from every wedding i’ve had in the last 6 months – once i can get that in order, maybe i can start unpacking all the boxes in the garage – once upon a time i had really cute decorative stuff in my house – the contractor should be done with the painting tomorrow and hopefully we will be well on our way to having a home again – except for that damn flooring …

Kellie Rasberry loves me – she brought me back the cutest pageboy cap from Disney – it’s made out of gray thermal material and has little Mickey Mouses all over it – and some of them have little crystals on them – ya;ll know how i love stuff that sparkles – normally, i’m not a hat person – i think it’s because my head is so dang big – but i think i can pull this one off!! i’ll have to find something cute that matches it so i can wear it tomorrow – i love the idea of being able to wear a hat!

Dancing With the Stars

Marie – it cracked me up when she said what she had that the other contestants didn’t was age – um, no – you have the sympathy vote Marie – that and your silly brother Donny on Entertainment Tonight almost every single night since the beginning of this whole competition – Donny’s a cutie but he is officially on my “you’re bugging the crap out of me” list – anyway, Marie’s Quick Step was good but she doesn’t deserve to be this far along – especially based on all of her past performances – the rumba – hmm – where to begin – first of all it was way too campy – it was sloppy and they were off a lot – i know she’s got a huge fan base but come on!!

Scary Spice – i LOVE Posh – ok, i just had to throw that in there – the waltz – beautiful – and that walking splitz – WOW!! Pasa Doble – AWESOME!! Mel and Maks are so perfectly matched – they have so much chemistry and they work so well together – i don’t think there’s anything they can’t do!

Jennie – ya’ll know i love Jennie but i wasn’t feeling that first dance – the music was awful and although i liked the choreography, i didn’t think it really went with the music – the Cha-Cha – way to make a comeback Jennie! LOVED IT!!! she was sexy and sassy and she got extra points in my book for dancing to Mustang Sally – that was my theme song back when i first bought my Mustang!

Helio – Fox Trot – it was a great routine but they didn’t deserve all 10s – there was a part where they were off and if i saw it, i KNOW the judges did too – the Cha-Cha – ugh – they are so freaking good – and i have such a girl crush on Julianne – everything about her is just so cute – can you believe she’s only 19?? i think she’s fantastic – and she is a great choreographer – she really knows how to make Helio look good!

predictions for tonight – i hate to say it – but Jennie’s going home – not because she deserves to – but because the Marie fans will vote for her even though she shouldn’t have made it this far – it’s one thing to vote for your favorite based on “ooh i really love them” early on – but now it’s down to the wire and it should be all about skill – it’s going to be really close in the end

this is what we call PROGRESS!!!!

paint has been purchased and the crib is ordered – the contractor is coming today to paint the baby’s room – at this rate, the nursery might actually be ready when Spike gets here!!!  i’ll spend most of Thanksgiving break finishing up the bedding and looking for a dresser

as of 11:33pm Saturday night, i am done with weddings until April – and my body is thankful – when i got up yesterday, i could hardly move – yesterday the sciatic pain was really bad – even after 2 hot showers and lots of stretching – it’s better today but i have a feeling there will be a lot of sitting on the birthing ball until Spike gets here –

i am married to the most wonderful husband ever – yesterday he got up and went and picked up Hotcakes and Sausage for me for breakfast – then he served it to me while i was still in bed along with my Sunday paper – now if i could just get him to turn the shower off all the way – that drip, drip, drip drives me nuts – but i shouldn’t complain – he completely cleaned out the nursery, sprinkled carpet deodorizer and vacuumed – yeah, he’s pretty great – even though he did tell me that i was “heavy” while i was sitting on his lap this weekend – well, duh!  of course i’m heavy – i’m carrying YOUR child!  good thing he’s still under the “i bought you a new car” free pass – how long does that free pass last again???  oh well, i guess i’ll keep him anyway!

i love my new car but it is NOT designed for zipping in and out of traffic or trying to get somewhere quickly – it’s just WAY too much vehicle for that – it’s definitely a family, get-you-where-you-need-to-be-safely car – but when i do need to get somewhere quickly, there’s still the Mustang!!!  like Saturday – i had a few errands to run before i left for the wedding and i knew i was going to be in a hurry – so i took the Mustang – and good thing – because not only was i in a hurry but u had to deal with incompetence – mine as well as the saleschick’s – so i was told that maternity Spanx are a wonderful thing – not only because they make you look nice and skinny – but because they provide support for your belly and back – and since i was going to be on my feet for 8+ hours, i thought i’d run out and get some – now what i was looking for was the kind that stop above the knee since i was going to be wearing a short dress – i walk into the store and don’t see them so i ask the saleschic – she says they do carry them and walks me over to the rack – great – at this point, i’m expecting her to walk away – after all, it’s not the first time i’ve ever shopped – but she’s the overly helpful saleschic and immediately pulls out 2 packages and asks me what size i need – “um, i’m not sure”  i tell her – in the meantime, she has 2 packages in her hand – both are the wrong color and i’m pretty sure the wrong size – as i continue to look at the rack, she asks again what size i need – now if i hadn’t been in a hurry, i probably would have politely told her that i didn’t need her help, but she’s standing over me and i’m already frazzled and as i look through the packages she asks me AGAIN what size i need – now i’m at the “don’t slap the saleschic” phase and just want to get out of there, so i grab a pair of black, size C Spanx with the picture that looks like what i need, and i head for the checkout – i’m at home and opening the package before i realize that they are full on pantyhpose and NOT the above the knew girdle-y kind i wanted – yes, 4 letter words were shouted – enough to where Kelley offered to go back and exchange them for me, but there wasn’t enough time – i was so mad – both at myself for not paying better attention and at overly helpful saleschic for bugging the crap out of me – if she had really wanted to be helpful, instead of asking me what size i needed, she would have verified what style and color i needed when i checked out – ugh!   i know it wasn’t completely her fault, but i did wish intense pain on her when i couldn’t get out of bed because of horrific sciatic pain

so in addition to the worst sciatic pain i’ve ever experienced, i also spent the week with this intense pelvic pain – it’s not scary “i’m about to die” pain, so i don’t feel the need to call my OB – but it is extremely uncomfortable and often feels like my uterus is going to come shooting through my pelvis at any minute – it sort of feels like round ligament pain, but a little higher up and more painful – and did i mention that i’m starting to get more random aches and pains throughout my belly – again, i’m not worried at all – Spike is moving so much now, i think he’s throwing a party in there – but is this going to become more intense the closer i get to delivery? if so, it’s going to be a long 10 1/2 weeks …

holy fuel prices Batman!

leave it to me to get a new car just as gas prices are increasing – when i got home on Wednesday, i had every intention of getting back out and thought i would put gas in the car then – but napping took over so i ended up staying in the rest of the day – and lucky me, when i got in the car yesterday at 4:45am the gas light came on – now taker into consideration that i have never put gas into Tahiti – i was already running a few minutes late, i got out to see where the gas cap was but i didn’t know how to open it – i felt around on the floor of the car, but no luck and i didn’t have time to read the manual – so i decided to risk it – i said a quick prayer that i would get to work without running out of gas and went on about my merry way – i get to the studio with no problems!!

so after the show i head for the gas station which is still about 4 miles from the studio – i had brought in the manual during the show and discovered that my gas tank holds 26.4 gallons of gas – holy crap – my quick math skills helped me realize that i’m looking at $75-80 to fill up my tank – WOW!!!  when i got to the gas station, i decided that i would start slow and put in $50 – even that was a strain – it’s never cost me more than $45 in the Mustang – good thing i’ve still got the Mustang for quick trips around town – Kelley thought i was a fanatic about finding the lowest gas before – he hasn’t seen anything yet!  and i won’t even tell you how my heart sank seeing gas for $2.83 this morning when i paid $2.90 yesterday – ugh.

Tahiti has new shoes – in the world of men, this means she has new tires and rims – in the world of dianthe, it means nothing – i’m not really a car chic – unless it’s a Mustang – so the whole “rims and tires” thing is lost on me – don’t get me wrong – they look really good – but other than the fact that they are shiny, i can’t tell you anything about them

my last wedding of the year is tomorrow and them i am all done until April!!!  it’s so weird having so much time off – clearly i’ll be a little busy and of course i’ll be booking new weddings for next year – i’ll finally have time to sit down and rework my website and get some other stuff done – hopefully all before Spike comes – i’m such a procrastinator sometimes – i’ve got to get that baby bedding done too – ooh, i need to run to the fabric store – i hate it when miscellaneous things pop in your head and you can’t remember what they are – i thought that the record feature on my new phone would be a big help – but who has time to pull out their phone every time you need to remember something – plus, i would probably forget to go back and listen – no, i’ll just stick to my sticky system – i constantly write things down on stickys and then transfer the stickys to lists – ongoing lists – lists that have no end – it’s a constant battle – one i fear i will never win

the last 4 weeks have gone by so slowly, but it’s been a month and it’s time for new pictures – i take the 29 month ones today and then in 4 more weeks we the 8 month pictures – how crazy is that – i’ll be 8 months pregnant – my belly is getting bigger and bigger every day and Kelley has taken to palming it like a basketball – he even said, “every time i see your belly, i just want to palm it” yes, he’s 7!  it’s a good thing i have a good sense of humor!

another crisis in getting ready for baby world – of course it’s a minor crisis and didn’t cause any tears – but how sad was i to find out that the pattern for my car seat has been discontinued – no Patchwork Cows for me – and the pattern i like 2nd best?  $60 more – is it a new and improved car seat?  no – it’s just a “better” pattern – i was so bummed! but it is super cute and the Pack’nPlay has all the bells and whistles – so i guess that’s a consolation – but i sure am bummed about my cows …
